Retail // ShopRite // Staples // Closings //

Retailers are interested in watching and manipulating customers.  Early efforts were primative but now they are moving on to wearables and bearables.  Shoprite digital receipt program lets you search your information - and realize how much they know about you,  Many retailers are closing or merging with a resultant loss of retail diversity.  The new mobile shopping apps can provide personalized pricing - not to your benefit.  Thanks to the call from Jim McGraw (Seattle).

John Horvat II // Common Core //

Katherine and John deplore the lack of manners in today's society.  John explains what Common Core is, what it entails, and how it impacts not just the students and teachers but all of us.  A wealth of information.  The classics are gone.  No Iliad, no Odyssey, no Shakespeare, no cursive.  Many states and districts are rethinking this now that they see what it entails.

George Soros // Drugs //

Why is George Soros spending $80 million to legalize pot?  Katherine delves into this.  Was Frank Zappa right? (quote below) It is utterly jaw dropping amazing.  Thanks for the call from Steven (MA).

In his paranoid—or is it facetious?—way he suggests, "I think the  government is involved in the sale and manufacture of drugs. It's in the  government's interest to keep large segments of the young population  stupid and docile."

Laws are being proposed to limit/halt Google Glass use.  Obamacare didn't enroll many and at a cost to society people are becoming aware of.  Jimmy Carter has been offered private StartMail email.  Homeschooling is getting a push from the implementation of Common Core in schools. Ibuprofen beat by another natural product - turmeric.
