Good News Friday // Photo Tickets // GMOs // Google Glass // Obamacare // Carter // Homeschooling // Turmeric //

Happy Friday!  Banning photo tickets? What a great idea.  No one seems to want GMOs. Laws are being proposed to limit/halt Google Glass use.  Obamacare didn't enroll many and at a cost to society people are becoming aware of.  Jimmy Carter has been offered private StartMail email.  Homeschooling is getting a push from the implementation of Common Core in schools. Ibuprofen beat by another natural product - turmeric.

James Ball // Autism // Sensory Issues //

Autism has gone from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 68.  James discusses why this may be happening and ideas on how to deal with it.  Many autistic children have sensory issues.  AMC Theaters is playing sensory friendly films where children and talk and dance around, no ads, and food can be brought in.  Wow. Sounds like fun.  Thanks for the email from Ginny.

Norway Gene Database // Social Security Numbers // Iraq // Disney Wristband //

What is going on?  The Norwegian privacy expert is stunned that such a large chunk of the population thinks it is a good idea to put infants (and visitors) genes in a huge database.  If the government gets this information it will use it for its own purposes.  Look at what happened to Social Security Numbers.  They are gearing up for a renewed war in Iraq - they have tons of horrific pictures in the press.  People are paying to be tracked?  Disney has it down.

Guest Host Lenore Skenazy of Free Range Kids

Michael Olson // The Food Chain //

What an entertaining hour - despite some of the serious issues discussed.  Lenore and Michael discuss "metro" gardening and how that differs from Big Agriculture.  Typical yields for Big Ag are on the order of $300 per acre - while a metro garden can yield over $75,000 an acre.  Amazing.  Why is the USDA contracting for submachine guns, ammo and gender specific body armor?  What is going to happen to the over 60 million on food stamps if the government collapses?
